Our Why
Greg Moore, call sign K27, was a patrol Sergeant for the City of Coeur d’Alene Police Department. During his 16 year tenure, Greg’s infectious personality endeared him to many in our Department and the community. Greg was known for his quick wit, charming personality, and relentless law enforcement efforts. He was equally well known for ensuring the wellbeing of those with whom he served.
Greg loved making sure his co-workers were happy and healthy. If you had a problem, Greg wanted to find a solution. Greg’s efforts weren’t limited to co-workers and friends. He regularly checked on the progress and wellness of individuals he came in contact with while enforcing the law, often times months and years after an arrest.
Greg was tragically taken from us in the line of duty on May 5, 2015. We lost a friend, a brother, a son, and a husband. Greg’s relentless efforts to ensure the mental health of everyone he came into contact with are what inspired the formation of the Coeur d’Alene Police Foundation. We continue to honor his legacy by adhering to our fundamental principle of helping ensure the mental and physical well being of all first responders in our area.
